Police identify victim during fatal crash Wednesday night in Norton

NORTON, Mass. (WPRI) – An accident on a highway in the opposite direction on Wednesday night killed one and injured several others.

The accident occurred on the Taunton-Norton line just before 23:30. Wednesday.

Investigators said that a car driven by Arnold Reda, 84, of Foxboro, was heading north into the Exit 13 area at Mansfield, when he turned around and started to move south in the northbound lane.

According to one official, his car hit a vehicle driven by a 56-year-old man, who had three passengers, a 42-year-old woman, and 12- and 10-year-old boys, all from Foxboro. All four were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Reda's vehicle then struck another car driven by a 58-year-old Weymouth woman with a passenger, a 27-year-old woman from Foxboro. The driver of this car was not injured and the passenger was taken to Sturdy Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Reda was declared dead on the scene.

One of the vehicles that was hit caught fire.

The accident is still under investigation.
