Amber alert canceled after the kidnapping of a teenager in Topeka found safe; 1 in detention

KANSAS CITY, MONTH – An Amber alert issued by Topeka early Thursday morning was canceled after the teenager was found safe.

Shaquan Mitchell, 16, was found unhurt. A suspect is in custody. A second suspect remains unknown and has not been identified.

The Kansas Investigation Bureau issued the alert early Thursday morning. Authorities said Mitchell was arrested by two suspects who entered a house in Block 1100 SW Woodhull Road in Topeka just before 1am.

One of the two suspects was Trevon Williams, 19 years old.

Mitchell, described as 6 feet tall and weighing 175 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, was last seen with a blue hoodie.

Authorities said Williams, described as measuring 6 feet 3 inches and weighing 175 kg with black hair and brown eyes, was wearing an all black outfit with a blue bandana concealing his face at the time of kidnapping.

The identity of the second suspect was not known, but he wore a red hooded sweatshirt that had been concealed in his face.

Witnesses saw the suspects and the victim leave the house on foot with a television.

The KBI has announced that it has activated wireless cell alert just after 6 am Thursday in Shawnee, Douglas, Jackson, Jefferson, Wabunsee and Osage counties in Kansas.
