"No disrespect" with Thanksgiving slamming

Boston Celtics goaltender Kyrie Irving tweeted about his unseen Thanksgiving dismissal after Wednesday's game, saying he had gone too far with his comments.

After wishing a happy Thanksgiving to a reporter following the Celtic's 117-109 defeat against the New York Knicks, Irving replied that he was not celebrating the party before saying "F — Thanksgiving".

On Thursday, Irving took a more respectful tone.

Irving told NBC Sports Boston that his holiday problems stemmed from his Native American heritage.

His mother was a descendant of the Standing Rock Sioux tribe. In recent years, Irving has embraced his legacy, including having the tribe's logo tattooed on his neck.

In August, Irving took part in a Lakota nomination ceremony and received the name "Little Mountain".
