You may find it in a hardware store, on the farmer's market or in a less common place, such as a tree-cutting farm.
Christmas trees come in all shapes and sizes and in many families the best part of your vacation is to go with your family to pick up the tree and slaughter it.
Joyce Alexander takes her family to Sandy Creek Tree Farm every year to cut down their favorite tree.
It is a tradition passed down by his mother and it has been going on for decades.
"I can continue on my mother's memory. Everyone is meeting at Christmas, "she said.
Christmas trees have been sold in the United States since the end of the 19th century. Although Georgia is not one of the best tree-producing countries, there are still local farmers like Sandy Creek.
"Cut your own tree" farms are rare too; According to the National Tree Association, 24.5 million trees were sold in 2012 and only 14% of them were harvested at the request of your own company.
People can go out and browse options to choose their favorite tree for their home, but many people buy more real trees because they are temporary and leave the chaos.
According to the National Christmas Tree Association, more and more people have been buying fake trees in recent years.
The Alexander family tried a fake tree a year ago, but said it was not the same thing.
"It was just not Christmas for me. A Christmas tree is a real tree [and] Ask your children to come pick it up and cut it out to decorate it as a family as every family should do every year, "Alexander said.
If you want to take your family to fell your own tree this year, Sandy Creek is only open this weekend from 10 am to after dark. His normal hours are Monday to Friday from 15:30. until the night.
