Hundreds of travelers were very scared before Thanksgiving after a The Amtrak train is separated and disabled on the track.

The train traveling from Montreal to New York experienced a "mechanical problem when two of the cars split up "Wednesday night near Albany, Amtrak said in a statement to the US TODAY".

Passenger Chuck Reeves, a software engineer traveling to his parents' home on Long Island for the holidays, wrote on Twitter that he had heard a "pop" and "felt an electric burn smell" followed by A "cold air assault" shortly after the train left.

"(I turned around and looked back and saw the missing train rat," he tweeted.

Reeves told the Associated Press that the conductor had left the car off the rails. In addition to crying children comforted by their parents, he added that no one really panicked.

Amtrak brought another train to catch the stranded passengers. The train company reported about three hours after the incident.

Amtrak said the 287 passengers and crew members of the train had not been injured. He is currently studying the cause of the separation of the car.
