Attack in Karachi: two dead in attack near the Chinese consulate

Two policemen died in an armed attack near the Chinese consulate in the Pakistani coastal city of Karachi, police said.

Eyewitnesses reported an explosion and gunfire at the Clifton site, but details are not yet known.

Local TV channels broadcast images of a plume of smoke, although the nature of the explosion is unclear.

Security forces were deployed and the area was cordoned off, said Pakistan TV channel Geo TV
