The Best Buy store in Dublin did not open until 5pm on Thanksgiving night, but Ahmed Alatwy wanted to make sure he got value for money. He therefore queued for 10 hours until the doors opened seven hours later. He said the Black Friday contracts on 4K smart TVs were too good to ignore.
"Television, I really want a TV. I was saving a lot of money for my pets and I was not thinking of buying a TV, but I saw the price and I told my dad that it would cost me a lot of money. was a good deal, "said Elatwy.
Angel Hall queued around thirty people behind Elatwy, watching on the same television and nothing else. She was afraid of not having one.
"I mean, I can always go to other places, but it's the best I've found for the cheapest, so I guess we'll have to wait. I know we are many here for the same thing, so it will be a bit of a competition to see who gets one and who does not, "she said.
Fortunately for her, she arrived on time.
Other buyers did not have that chance.
About an hour and a half after the store opened, this 43-inch 4K Smart TV was exhausted.
But there are still plenty of items for the 600 to 700 buyers that Best Buy officials see every hour.
For buyers such as Michael Paluch, this meant that most of the items on his list were still in stock and he said the wait was worth it.
"Because you save a lot of money and it's good for the holidays," Paluch said.
Most stores stayed open later than usual to enjoy the early winter season.
The Best Buy at Tuttle Crossing closes at 1:00 am
