What made you want to be part of The Christmas contract and what attracted you to the role of Jolie?
What really attracted me in this scenario, in particular, is that I am no stranger to Christmas movies. I like doing this kind of programming because it is family friendly and I think it is user friendly for women. The main problem I had with these jobs in the past is that they are designed so that the main role of women has big flaws. Either she is a labor-obsessed shrew and can not have a personal life or she is a ruffled single mother or she is careless in her life one way or another. Jolie was such a complete woman. She is great in her work. This is a good friend. She is a big girl and sister. She's funny She's not a flop. What's great is that we've seen a very nice woman, a credible woman, and that's the guy who's got to figure out, "Oh, I do not want to lose that." I think it's important to tell these stories. I think we have vilified women for a very long time and that this is a great opportunity for us to create women we recognize.
What do you like so much in the Christmas kind?
I started doing [movies in this genre] as a joke and as a challenge. I had dinner with our friends Julie and Paul Rudd, who are Jewish, but they love Christmas movies. The offer has arrived. My phone paged and I saw. "Hey man, we just got this Christmas movie." We laughed, but they insisted, "No, you'll do it, you have to do it." And so I made my first Christmas movie and Danneel is really there with me and it has been such a good experience, especially considering my experience on TV. I did not have to undress. I have not had anything inappropriate. It was much more like the movies I liked to grow. When I was younger, I wanted to be Sandra Bullock. I wanted to do Floats of hope. I wanted to do Practical magic. It was my goal and these movies, with their family tone, suited me perfectly. And as a mother, they film in three weeks. From a practical point of view, I can always be a full time mother and go to do those fun jobs that look like a summer camp. I can take my kids for the ride.

And Elisabeth Harnois, who played Shelley the Clean Teen on A hill of tree. She was randomly in town shooting a totally different Christmas movie and one day, she snuck into her set and we improvised that scene in which she plays my cousin, Lilly. So keep your eyes open. How did you end up working together on this project?
The producer, Daniel Lewis, and I had worked together years ago on Christmas at Bayou with Tyler Hilton and we got along really well. He became a close friend and he sent me a text message when I was pregnant with my daughter and asked me to come to Louisiana to make another movie. I said, "Let me have my baby, then give me three months and I will come back to work for you." And he kept me. Three months after my daughter's birth day, he said to himself, "Ok kid, here's your start date, you have to go to Louisiana, we're going to start in June." I had a little time before the project where he and I could really get together and decide, "You know, it's my first job since I've had a baby." With whom can we we surround ourselves, who is really comfortable and helpful? " Robert Buckley and I were trying to make a Christmas movie together for five years. There was a different production in Vancouver years ago when he was on a break from IZombie and he was going to work for less money. We were trying to get around the Canadian tax incentive and this studio would not just break the rules. It's almost better than that because not only Robert and I were finally able to work together, but we also brought all our friends.
While Robert Buckley played on A hill of treehe did not enter the series until your character was gone. How did you get connected before this movie and how was it working with him?
In fact, it looks a lot like the movie. Danneel went back to A hill of tree after I left doing some episodes and she called me while I was pregnant with Gus, she would say to me, "Oh, I'm at Wilmingtonian, I'm spending time with some of the new members of the cast, you'll hear really well, he's weak like you. "And I thought," Put him on the phone. " Rob Buckley is very very fast. He is very intelligent, intelligent and funny, and he is a great person to talk to. We agreed, but we never spoke again. I think it's really important that Sophia [Bush], Joy [Lenz] and I do something together in the future. In the 10 years leading up to this conference, there were a number of conversations in which two of us said from time to time, "Should we say something?" I had talked a lot with people in my world. It was not a secret that things were not good there. The climate of the # MeToo movement allowed us to express our concern and the flow of women who manifested really helped to soothe this fear of repercussion. Ten years later, this fear had somehow dissolved. I am in a different place. I do not live in Los Angeles. So, we felt like obvious. A number of us have felt very guilty of not having said anything before and that girls from The royals felt what they felt because we were silent. After speaking, they might have avoided some of their interactions. It's a great lesson to talk because you never know who will suffer because of your silence. A number of us were guilty of this and we still have it. However, what I will say is that we have been forged by fire and that we are united – not only publicly, but also privately – and that everything happens in our lives, we have a text, we are in constant communication with one and the other. These are my touchstones. These are the people I am going to and hope that they will consider me the same.
How was working The Christmas contract with different casting than when you worked together A hill of tree, which has been described as a toxic environment?
It was a really fun and fun set. Our director, Monika Mitchell, was such a great person to join our group because she is really good at her job. She is fast on her feet. She is incredibly smart. She is so capable and she understood our dynamic and really celebrated it. There has never been a wall built around the A hill of tree kids. She just jumped in and was part of the club and is one of my favorite people to work with. What was great was that the other cast members that Daniel brought on board added a lot. Cheryl Ladd playing my mother and daughter Jordan Ladd playing my sister, what an amazing experience. They were fantastic. And Bruce Boxleitner playing my father, with that grave and iconic voice. It was fun for me to meet people for whom I dreamed of growing up, and another wonderful thing about this genre is that I usually work with people I've loved in my childhood. Working with them was a pleasure and I think everyone could feel the vibrations of the family reunion and especially when you make a holiday movie, it makes the job a lot easier and more fun.
Are you surprised by the popularity A hill of tree is still 15 years after its creation?
Yes. If I had known when I was 20 years old that the thing I was working on would affect the rest of my life, I would have probably made a different hair choice. I might have struggled more for some intrigues, even though we fought a lot. I would have simply felt a deeper responsibility and so am happy that the fan base found it. I am happy that they found humanity in that because we fought hard for that. I am happy that they support the projects that we have realized afterwards. They are dedicated and we are dedicated to them and that is why we organize conventions. We like to see everyone.
