BRUSSELS (Reuters) – The European Commission announced on Friday the opening of an investigation into a possible violation of the Competition Council's competition rules by Amadeus flight reservation systems (Amadeus).AMA.MC) and Saber (SABR.O) and their relationship with airlines and travel agents.

"Our investigation into Amadeus and Saber is focused on possible restrictions on competition in the airline ticket distribution services market," said EU Commissioner Margrethe Vestager in a statement. .

The Commission has indicated that it will examine whether the terms of the agreements between Amadeus and Saber with airlines and travel agencies limit their use of other ticketing services that may be cheaper for European consumers.
