It was good for Thanksgiving, but things are changing today. We start with rain today and we will see the winter come back on Sunday with the snow and the wind.
The rain should now be mostly light, although some heavier bands may follow. Most of us will see about a quarter of an inch of rain tonight, but some could reach up to half an inch.
We will be dry for Saturday, but a strong winter storm will cross the region on Sunday. The storm track will be very important to know who will see the heaviest snowfall, but it could be above us.
There is a risk of heavy snow on Iowa … some of us could see 4 "of snow or more.
Due to potential heavy snowfalls, as well as strong winds creating blowing snow that will reduce visibility, a winter storm monitoring device was posted for parts of the KWWL observation area this Sunday.
Travel can become dangerous from Saturday night and continue until Sunday. Timing and exact course may change by Sunday, but be prepared to face driving problems on Sunday due to snow and high winds. Temperatures can also drop throughout the day. Precipitation can start as rain, snow, freezing rain, mingle Saturday night.
Stay tuned for future updates as the trajectory of the storm is likely to change.
