The Carolina Panthers said lead receiver Devin Funchess was dubious for Sunday's home game against the Seattle Seahawks, but receiver Torrey Smith would be back.
Funchess, who leads the Panthers with 516 yards, did not train this week because of a back injury. Coach Ron Rivera said on Friday that there was a "little glow" that Funchess could play for the Panthers (6-4), who lost two consecutive games.
Smith is officially considered dubious, but Rivera is said to be "pretty confident" that he can come back after missing the last four games due to a knee injury. He was a limited participant in practice this week.
If Funchess can not play, it will only be the second game of his career in the NFL. He also missed a match in 2016, his second season.
Funchess has the largest number of receptions among the Panthers' wide receivers with 41, making it the team's second place behind the 71-shot defenseman Christian McCaffery. He also has three touchdown receptions.
