Fox News guest Anna Paulina apologized for comparing former First Lady and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton to a sexually transmitted disease during a Thursday broadcast on the channel.

"Yesterday on Fox, I was placed on the wrong segment and the confusion made a brazen and unprofessional joke," Paulina tweeted Friday. "To Fox and to those who watch, I am deeply sorry."

The network has apologized on the air and cut Paulina's segment, Fox News said in a statement released Friday in the United States today.

The clip, as published by The Daily Caller, shows the confusion that led to the controversial commentary.

In the clip, Paulina is featured as the director of Hispanic engagement in a conservative organization. She is asked to comment on recent news about Hillary Clinton, but she is beginning to talk about border security.

Fox News host Rick Leventhal asked Paulina to redirect the conversation to Clinton, who mocked the apparent error, offering an inaudible explanation.

After posing a question to another guest, Leventhal is surprised that Clinton continues to make headlines two years after losing the 2016 presidential election against Donald Trump.

"She will not leave," Paulina said with a sigh. "She's like herpes."

Leventhal immediately stands out from the comment: "Uh, okay, that's the news we're breaking in. This is not appropriate."

He later apologized to viewers for "the language used in the segment," Fox News said in a statement.

Another host also apologized later: "We want to reiterate that we are not endorsing the language that Anna Paulina has just shown here, and we apologize to Secretary Clinton for that." Arthel Neville said, according to a Fox News release. not tolerate his feeling. "

The segment discussed Clinton following an article in the New York Times, citing unnamed sources, President Donald Trump had expressed the wish that the Justice Department pursue Clinton.

The controversy involving Paulina is not the first time this year that media personalities have been criticized for comparing a powerful woman to a sexually transmitted disease. In July, actress Michelle Wolf compared Ivanka Trump to herpes in a segment punctuated by expletives.
