NEW YORK (AP) – Dedric Lawson had 24 points, 13 rebounds and five assists, and Kansas number 2 was beaten to beat number 5 Tennessee 87-81 in overtime in the title match of the season of the NIT Tip-Off which ended early Saturday.

Lagerald Vick scored 15 points, including eight consecutive in a crucial sequence for the Jayhawks' return, and helped Lawson score 78-73 with a time of 2:39 in overtime. Lawson was named MVP of the tournament.

Admiral Schofield of Tennessee had 21 points and six rebounds, while Grant Williams had 18 points, eight rebounds and six assists before committing a serious accident. Jordan Bone added 16 points for the Volunteers (4-1).

Bone returned to the bench after hitting a 3-pointer to finish the first half and push Tennessee 33-31 up. The Volunteers led nine points in the second half before Kansas (5-0) came back.

NO. 4 VIRGINIA 53, NO. 25 WISCONSIN 46

PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas (AP) – From Andre Hunter earned 20 points and nine rebounds to help Virginia defeat Wisconsin in the Battle 4 Atlantis championship game.

Ty Jerome added 11 points for the Cavaliers (6-0), who led 33-18 after a solid first half, then offended as the Badgers continued to retreat. Virginia was only 2-of-16 shot from half-time and shot 26% in the second half.

But the Cavs' usual strong defense was enough to keep the Badgers and Ethan Happ All-American All-American from the Associated Press in pre-season at hand.

Happ finished with 22 points, 15 rebounds and six assists for Wisconsin (5-1), who shot 52% after half-time to reduce his deficit. The Badgers have come close to five times in the second half, but have never managed to double the Cavaliers.

NO. 6 NEVADA 110, MASSACHUSETTS 87

CALEB MARTIN (AP) – Caleb Martin scored 29 points, Trek Shawn Thurman added 22 points and eight rebounds, and Nevada beat Massachusetts in the second Las Vegas Invitational championship game.

Martin, who was named MVP of the tournament, finished 9 times out of 15 and 6 out of 10 in the 3-point range.

Cody Martin had 18 points and seven rebounds for the Wolf Pack (6-0), and Jordan Caroline had 16 points and 10 rebounds. Nevada shot 62% of the field, including 11 of 22 at 3 points.

Luwane Pipkins led the Minutemen (4-2) with 30 points and seven rebounds, while Keon Clergeot added 12 while five Massachusetts players reached double digits.

NO. 7 NORTH CAROLINA 94, NO. 17 UCLA 78

LAS VEGAS (AP) – Coby White had 19 points and 8 assists, Luke Maye added 16 points and 8 rebounds and won the Las Vegas Invitational consolation game.

Kenny Williams scored 15 points as five Tar Heels doubled their numbers and North Carolina (6-1) decided to separate on his trip to Las Vegas.

Kris Wilkes led UCLA (4-2) with 22 points while he converted 7 out of 10 of the field.

North Carolina are now leading the all-time series with a 9-3 record in a match of 18 teams overall.

NO. 9 MICHIGAN 83, CHATTANOOGA 55

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) – Iggy Brazdeikis scored 20 points and Jordan Poole added 14 points to lead Michigan to an easy win.

Isaiah Livers added 12 points to the Wolverines, all in the first period. Michigan (6-0) avoided a disappointment in their first game at Ann Arbor after three impressive wins away.

The undefeated Wolverines have won each of their matches at least 19 points. They led 42-22 at half-time in this game and beat Chattanooga (2-5) at 36%, including a first-half 8-in-30 field record.

Kevin Easley led the Mocs with 21 points.

NO. 10 KENTUCKY 77, TENNESSEE STATE 62

LEXINGTON, Kentucky (AP) – Keldon Johnson has scored 27 career-high points to lead Kentucky beyond the state of Tennessee.

The Wildcats (5-1) finished 4-0 in the Ohio Valley Hardwood Showcase and won their fifth straight game since losing to Duke in the first period of the season. Kentucky concluded a three-game series in six days, capturing its 48th consecutive victory over an unconferenced home opponent.

Johnson scored 20 points in the second half when the Wildcats moved away.

Donte Fitzpatrick-Dorsey led the Tigers (2-4) with 18 points, followed by Emmanuel Egbuta with 13 points and Kamar McKnight with 10 points.

NO. 11 STATE OF MICHIGAN 78, TEXAS 68

LAS VEGAS (AP) – Joshua Langford scored 29 points, Cassius Winston, 20 points and 10 assists, and Michigan State won the Las Vegas Invitational title.

Langford was 5 out of 6 from 3 points. Winston, who was named the tournament's most valuable player, also had five rebounds for the Spartans (5-1), who missed the game 25-6 after eight minutes of play.

Kerwin Roach II of Texas, the hero of the seventh edition of North Carolina, number seven, led with 15 points and five assists. Dylan Osetkowski and Matt Coleman III each had 13 points for the Longhorns (5-1).

Michigan State took the lead for the first time in Langford's 3-point standings with 15:26 to go and eventually took the lead on a Winston 3-pointer, 1:19 later.

NO. 14 FLORIDA STATE 79, NO. 19 SKU 76, OT

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) – Mfiondu Kabengele has scored three points with a half-second left in overtime, and Florida State has qualified for the AdvoCare InvoCenter Championship Game.

The Seminoles (5-0) will face the reigning national champion Villanova on Sunday.

Tremont Waters made three free throws to give LSU even 76 with 11.5 seconds left in overtime before Kabengele's shot from the corner hit the edge.

After nine points behind, Florida State forced extra time when Trent Forrest tied with a score of 68-68 during a layup with 2.8 seconds to go.

LSU (5-1) will face Oklahoma State in third place Sunday.

NO. 23 STATE OHIO 89, STATE OF CLEVELAND 62

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Kaleb Wesson had 19 points and three teammates also scored twice as the Ohio State moved away in the second half.

C.J. Jackson had 17 points, Andre Wesson scored 11 and Luther Muhammad added 10 for the Buckeyes (6-0).

Ohio State led 38-29 at the half. Jackson opened the scoring by opening the second half and kicked off a 10-2 run in the state of Ohio. Cleveland State could not get closer.

Stefan Kenic led the Vikings (2-4) with 13 points, Seth Millner had 10 points and Algevon Eichelberger had nine points and nine rebounds.

NO. 24 PURDUE 84, ROBERT MORRIS 46

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) – Carsen Edwards scored 19 points and Ryan Cline was 17, while Purdue scored Robert Morris.

The Boilermakers (5-1) rebounded well after their first loss of the season Sunday night against the 13th Virginia Tech. Edwards was 5 for 17 on the field against the Colonials, but also contributed to five assists, four steals and one blocked shot.

Malik Petteway led Robert Morris with 10 points. The Colonials (3-3) shot 31.5% (17 out of 54) off the field.
