A man is in custody after MPs claimed that he had escaped from them while they were investigating an armed robbery against a 7-Eleven in the US. Greenville County Saturday morning.

MPs were summoned to the 5055 Old Buncombe Road convenience store around 7:00 am on Saturday for an armed robbery report. They determined that one man walked into the store with the face covered, took out a firearm and asked for money, said Lt. Ryan Flood, a spokesman for the sheriff's office .

The man took a sum of undisclosed money and ran out of the store. Later, the deputies found a man who matched the description of the suspect and he rushed into a wooded area. MPs sued Jeffery Timothy Griffin, 25, before taking him into custody, Flood said.

Griffin was enlisted in Greenville County Jail later on Saturday and faces 11 charges related to the incident, according to the online prison records.

Griffin is charged with four counts of armed robbery, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, robbery and presentation of a firearm, resistance to arrest, false information to the forces of the order and three counts of conspiracy, according to prison records.

A gun and the amount of stolen money were found while Griffin was in custody, Flood said.
