SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – The US Coast Guard is investigating a Friday afternoon ferry accident at the San Francisco Ferry Building.
The vessel struck an outside berth and then the ferry wharf at approximately 2:30 pm at the terminal along the San Francisco waterfront.

Two passengers were slightly injured.
The Coast Guard investigation aims to understand the cause of the accident and to recommend measures to prevent future incidents, said the US Coast Guard Lieutenant-Colonel. Krysia Pohl said in a statement released Friday.
"Our main concern in any investigation is the safety of passengers and the environment."
Pohl is the Division Head of the San Francisco Coast Guard Inspection Division.
According to Golden Gate Transit District spokeswoman Priya Clemens, the ferry to San Francisco departed from Larkspur and carried 53 passengers.
A passenger was injured on the back but refused treatment.
Another passenger was treated at the scene for a hip contusion, Clemens said.
Although the vessel and the wharf were damaged, the Ferry Building was not damaged. In addition, the crash did not cause any delay.
The crew of the ferry was reported Friday and would be tested for drugs and alcohol, which, according to Clemens, is a standard protocol for such incidents.
Although Clemens said the cause of the accident seemed to be mechanical, the investigation into the incident could take days.
