A Falcon 9 rocket and its cargo of several satellites will target the takeoff of the Vandenberg Air Base Wednesday morning, while the departure of another thruster was postponed until December.
The launch of the Falcon 9 rocket by Space Exploration Technologies, or SpaceX, was planned for 19 November from Space Launch Complex-4 on the southern base.
But last weekend, SpaceX officials said the team needed more time to complete the pre-flight inspections.
Advice advising sailors to stay off the coast of Vandenberg was issued Wednesday, indicating the new date.
Takeoff would take place approximately between 10:30 and 11:00.
The Falcon 9 will carry 64 small satellites to Spaceflight Industries Inc. as part of a mission called SSO-A or SmallSat Express.
At the same time, the United Launch Alliance's Delta IV Heavy rocket, scheduled for launch on November 29, has been postponed for a week.
The National Recognition Office has announced that the illegal cargo mission will take place on 7 December.
Delta IV Heavy will be launched from Space Launch Complex-6 on the southern base.
Due to the top secret spacecraft aboard the booster seat, the launch time has not been unveiled.
