If you attend long enough basketball games, there is a good chance that at some point you will be thrown out of the crowd for one of these fan contests.
You know, those where you have to answer questions or ask a half-court to win a free pizza?
As fun as they are, they can also be a little embarrassing. There is nothing better than making air-ball in front of your date, no?
No problem. Because the fan bar has been completely lowered to the ground this weekend.
The Los Angeles Lakers almost won three-quarters of their 90-83 victory over Utah Jazz on Friday night, when Staples Center staff lucky fan poor soul for an easy and fast challenge sponsored by Pechanga Resort & Casino. The game had playing cards face down on the big screen, and the fan – a boy named David with a hat and a Laker jersey – was tasked with guessing whether the next card shown would be higher or lower than the first.
"I'm here with our lucky candidate, David, who will have 30 seconds to guess if the next card shown will be higher or lower than the first card shown at the table," announces the host. "If David guesses all of this correctly, he will win a Pechanga getaway package."
Pretty simple, no? If the first card is a "2", you can safely go "higher". If it's an ace, you can probably go "lower."
Well, wait and see how our lucky candidate manages this.
"Higher or lower than zero?" asks the host, to which David responds, "Lower".
"Inferior?" the host responds, still unaware of what has happened. "Well, okay, it seems like your luck has run out, thank you very much for playing."
Yes. This is true. David had a "0" of all the numbers to start with, and without hesitation, went "lower".
Where do we begin? Like it or not, it's like a stock of ammo for anyone who thinks little about Lakers fans. (Sorry, David.) And yet, you must almost feel bad for the guy. After all, he does not even blink his eyes before giving his answer, and it's clear after our host from Staples Center has shot him a kind of double take that he still has not realized what he's doing. He had done. Maybe he just did not understand the rules?
