The National Weather Service issued an urgent Winter Weather Notice for the nearby cities of Grand Rapids and placed the area near Saginaw under surveillance in the event of a winter storm on Saturday.
According to the NWS, several inches of snow – up to 6 inches in some areas – are expected to impact late Sunday night.
Winter Weather Forecast
According to one NWS winter weather message, cities near Grand Rapids will be subject to a winter weather forecast from 4pm Sunday to 10am Monday.
According to the NWS, cities in central, southern, southwest, and west-central Michigan are expected to receive 3-5 inches of snow, with a chance of more than 6 inches, plus wind gusts of up to 35 inches. mph.
The NWS warned drivers in these areas to expect snow-covered roads and reduced visibility.
"Expect significant impacts on Monday morning journeys, especially on slippery roads and reduced visibility – snow removal is difficult because of the wet and wet nature of the snow," said the commission.

Watch winter storm
The counties of Midland, Bay and Saginaw counties are also expected to receive up to 6 inches of snow or more in the coming days, according to the NWS.
Winter storm monitoring will be in effect for these areas from Sunday evening to Monday morning.
"Plan for tough travel conditions," the NWS announced. "A winter storm watch means there is a potential for significant snow, slush or ice accumulation that can affect movement."
According to NWS Detroit, between 1 and 6 inches of snow could fall in areas of the three-city region, as well as in the Detroit Metro.
A snowfall of up to 1 inch is expected for areas south of Detroit, NWS Detroit posted on Twitter.
