Dale County authorities have a person in custody linked to a shootout near Fort Rucker on Saturday night.

The shooting occurred in Daleville on Richardson Drive, officials said the Dale County Sheriff. Two people exchanged shots, according to Deputy Chief Mason Bynum. One person was killed and police were looking for a suspect, he said. At 9:30 pm, the sheriff's service announced on social media that the suspect had been arrested.

The Sheriff's Department indicated that during the search, all residents of the area had a shelter on site.

According to Chris Judah, director of the Houston County Emergency Management Agency, the shooting occurred outside the US military aviation center at Fort Rucker, but close to the base gates. He said the sheriff's office was the lead agency in the case, but two SWAT teams from Houston County went to the scene.
