A man reportedly found $ 7.5 million hidden in a safe inside a storage unit that he had purchased from Dan Dotson, star of "Storage Wars," for only $ 500.

Dotson, who runs the auction house American Auctioneers, spoke to a lucky man in a video posted on Facebook earlier in November. A woman approached Dotson and told her that her husband was working for a man who bought the abandoned Dotson storage unit that contained a safe.

Dotson said the man had tried to call on a locksmith to open the safe. "The first person they called to open the same thing could not or did not," he said. The auctioneer of the television said that the second locksmith called by the unnamed man had managed to open the safe.

"Inside the vault – normally they're empty – but this time it was not empty," said Dotson. "There was $ 7.5 million in cash in the trunk."

After the money was discovered, the owners of the original storage unit contacted the new owner through their lawyer, said Dotson. The original owners offered the new owners $ 600,000, then $ 1.2 million, for the money to be returned to them.

The new owners of storage units have accepted the offer of the original owners and have accepted the $ 1.2 million in exchange for the balance.

Dotson and his wife, Laura, then debated what they would do if they discovered the money.

Laura Dotson said that it might be difficult to find a safe with millions of dollars. "I felt so worried. I do not think it will be clean money, "she said. "Sure they were offering it to me then, I would say so, they washed it, they cleaned it up and I will accept those 1.2 million dollars."
