Schiff: "We will bring Whitaker before Congress"

"We will summon Whitaker to Congress, assuming he is still at his post at the moment the Democrats will take power," Schiff said on CNN's "State of the Union" .

He continued, "We can have him come, whether he is in this position or not, to find the answers to these questions."

Schiff said Whitaker was not telling Congress how he was managing the supervision of a special investigator's investigation led by former FBI director Robert Mueller, and was committed to discover it.

Schiff is expected to lead the House's Intelligence Committee once the newly elected Democratic majority takes control of the House in January. New York Democratic Representative Jerry Nadler, who is expected to lead the House's Judiciary Committee, previously told CNN that his "first-ever witness" would be Whitaker.
President Donald Trump has appointed Whitaker to the position of Acting Head of the Department of Justice when he ousted Attorney General Jeff Sessions earlier this month. Whitaker played a critical role in the past in the Mueller investigation, including as CNN's legal commentator.
Schiff cited Whitaker's earlier comments as a source of concern. Last week, Trump called him "Little Adam Schitt" on Twitter after the congressman had declared the acting appointment was invalid because Whitaker had not received confirmation from the Senate.
