The Delaware Memorial Bridge is closed in either direction due to a gas leak, the Delaware Department of Transportation announced Sunday.
The complete stoppage took place around 17 hours. Sunday. The closure will certainly add a major headache to the busy Thanksgiving travel period, as many families return home after a vacation visit.
The Delaware River and the Bay Authority said the leak came from a chemical plant located near the New Jersey Bridge. They had no schedule for the reopening of the bridge.
