A demining team blew up an explosive on Monday morning that had been stuck to the trunk of a car left near a school in Inglewood.
Police were reported around 9:30 pm Sunday by a woman who noticed a parcel and several wires hanging from a 2004 Nissan parked in the 700 block of West Beach Avenue, Lt. Cochran of the Police Department said. # 39; Inglewood.
A bomb dog sent to the scene alerted the package, warning authorities that it was a real explosive, Cochran said.
About 75 to 100 residents had to evacuate this densely populated area, while a de-mining team from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department was named.
The demining team confirmed that the package contained an explosive and then exploded the device safely.
Investigators said the vehicle had not been stolen and that they were trying to track down its owner.
It was not known how long the car had been at the location.
"He was parked in front of a school, so we're happy to have it set aside," Cochran said. The car was towed from the place, near Highland Elementary School, for further investigation.
A resident who was evacuated as a result of the investigation said that he had been surprised when he had heard of the suspect device.
"Around the world, you can hear events, but you do not expect that to happen in your neighborhood or neighborhood, but that's the case," said Paul Ahmad.
