UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov revealed Monday that he could imagine a reconciliation with Conor McGregor after the fierce feud that tainted the fight for the title of last month.
Both fighters exchanged verbal blows before the October 6 fight and Nurmagomedov started a fight with the McGregor team after winning the bid victory.
The two men are waiting on Dec. 10 for a hearing before the Nevada Sports Commission to determine whether their actions will result in further sanctions, but Nurmagomedov insisted that there was no reason for that he and McGregor remain stubborn enemies.
"Anything is possible, just like McGregor and I could come to terms," Nurmagomedov said.
He added that he did not know how he would react when he would see the Irish fighter next, saying, "Who are we to not forgive ourselves when the Almighty forgives us?"
Nurmagomedov said he would prefer a fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. – without specifying how it could be arranged – rather than the favored UFC option by Tony Ferguson.

"In terms of legacy and in the sense of money, and from a sporting point of view, I think Mayweather's fight is a lot more interesting," Nurmagomedov said, although any negotiation be suspended after the hearing regarding the outcome of McGregor's fight.
"The athletics committee must first finish and then we will talk."
A convinced Muslim, Nurmagomedov has become increasingly an influential conservative voice in Russia, criticizing some aspects of the nightlife in his home region of Dagestan. After retiring, many Russian athletes got into politics, including heavyweight boxer Nikolai Valuev, now a member of parliament, but Nurmagomedov said he was not planning to join their.
"I'm trying to stay out of it all," he said. "The essential thing is to have the desire to help people and it's not necessary to be a member of Parliament to do it."
