Edwin Jackson ready to equal the record of Octavio Dotel playing for the 13th team

The Oakland Athletics have announced that right-hander Edwin Jackson will start Monday in Detroit. Normally, this news would not be enough to make waves, because Jackson is 34 years old with a 4.67 MPM career. It is however very worthy of interest.

Here is a list of teams that might otherwise seem random:

Count them. That's 13 teams, once Jackson officially takes the mound with the A.

This ties an MLB record for the recent Octavio Dotel taker for the most teams by an individual player.

I'm not sure this is a dubious feat, because Jackson had to be good enough to deserve shooting with so many teams. Again, I'm not sure it's a feather in his cap, either, because he's never been able to stay with a team for more than three seasons and no matter what very good player would have found a way to do it. It's just … Something.

Ah, live it. It's a record. Congratulations, Edwin!
