Children's fishing tournament for the benefit of the Lyme Disease Association

(INDIAN RIVER, Del.) – The Indian River Marina is partnering with the Delmarva Lyme Disease Association for the Kids Catch-All Youth Fishing Tournament. That's because all Delmarva is prone to ticks and this organization is raising awareness to prevent the many diseases that they spread, including Lyme disease.

Marilyn Williams, general manager of the Lyme Disease Association of Delmarva, said, "We have ticks on the beach, we have ticks wherever there is bigger grass, we have ticks in the woods. When we did a study on ticks, we found more ticks in the hot summer months, under the landscaping of people around their foundation than when we had trees.

This is the 4^th The tournament was held and children can be seen fishing along the pier as well as on the shore of the Indian River marina.

In the end, the goal of the tournament is not just to reward the trophies for the best and the best shots. These children are fishing for a cause.

300,000 cases of Lyme disease are reported in the United States alone each year, but the number of unreported cases is expected to increase tenfold. That's why this tournament raises funds for the Lyme Disease Association in Delmarva so that they can help this cause.

The Lyme Disease Association of Delmarva aims to educate people so that they check their children and their own body more frequently for ticks because the longer the attachment, the greater the risk of Infection is high.
