TYSONS, Go. – Melania Trump said Sunday that kindness, compassion and positivity are important traits in life. The first lady helped SADD – Students Against Destructive Decisions – to open its annual national conference at a hotel just outside of Washington.

SADD was founded in 1981 under the name Students Against Drunk Driving, but changed its name and mission in the late 1990s to prevent all harmful behaviors and attitudes for college, high school and college students.
Trump said she was "inspired" when she heard about the organization and the conference. The audience broke out in shouts and cheers when it was introduced by Dylan Mullins of Marlboro, NJ, who is the national student of the year of SADD.
Mullins said the First Lady's campaign aims to highlight programs and organizations, such as SADD, that seek to help youth overcome some of the problems they face every day.
