The body of a firefighter from Southern California shot in the line of duty arrived at the office of a coroner after a solemn procession.
A coroner's van carrying the remains of Captain Dave Rosa was escorted Monday by a column of fire trucks and law enforcement vehicles on the long road from the port city of Long Beach to the morgue near the center City of Los Angeles.
Firefighters from several departments were standing in the streets and overpasses of motorways, bowing to the passing of the procession.

The injuries of the other firefighter are described as not life threatening. A third bullet victim, described as a civilian, was declared in the middle of the morning in critical condition and in surgery.
Police detained a person suspected of being a resident of the building and recovered a firearm, but there is no word on the motive of the violence.

Authorities claim that two firefighters and another person were shot dead in a retirement home in Southern California and that a suspect is in detention.
The shooting occurred after the firefighters reacted to a Monday alarm before dawn in an 11-story tower in Long Beach, south of Los Angeles.
Long Beach Fire Department spokesman Jake Heflin said a firefighter had been hospitalized in critical condition and the other had suffered a non-fatal injury.
Police Sgt Brad Johnson says that another person has also been injured and hospitalized but no longer has information about this victim.
Johnson said that a man suspected of being responsible for the shooting was a resident of the institution and was detained.
Heflin says firefighters arriving at the retirement home have found blown windows, the smell of gas and a fire that they have extinguished.
