Whether the Academy is admirably pro-active or reckless remains undoubtedly a permanent debate within the organization. That was certainly the case of producer Bill Mechanic when he resigned from the group's board of governors in April, lamenting that the academy had "solved digital responses to the problem of inclusion" .
