IRVINE, California (KABC) –

A continuing investigation into who shot and killed Tristan Beaudette while on a camping trip with his two little daughters at Malibu Creek State Park in Calabasas last week.

The 35-year-old man worked as a scientist and helped research and development at Allergan in Irvine. The company issued a statement regarding the death of Beaudette.

"It is rare that we lose a friend and a colleague, especially in an event that was insane and difficult to understand, we will remember Tristan as a talented scientist who was admired by all who knew him", can we read in the press release.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for Beaudette's wife, Dr. Erica Wu.

"Words can not express the absolute devastation and sorrow we feel as a result of the loss of someone so dear to our family," she said on the page. "Tristan did something that he loved in life, being out with his two young daughters."

The authorities stated that Beaudette's daughters had not been injured while they were in the tent when he was shot in the chest before 5am last Friday.

At Irvine's house, a neighbor described what he heard that morning.

"I just kept hearing a woman scream," No. No. No. "It was just surprising to hear something like that," said Scott Blakeslee.

According to the GoFundMe page, Erica stayed to study for an exam. They then planned to take a family leave before moving to the Bay Area to start new jobs.

Until now, authorities have stated that they have no suspects or motives. The campground should remain closed until Thursday.

Anyone with more information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
