LAKE GREENWOOD, N.Y. – It is known locally as "the castle". On the second reference, many call it the home of Derek Jeter. Now, it can be yours for $ 14.75 million.
Located just above the New Jersey State Line on the shore of Greenwood Lake, the 115-year-old home is well disguised from the street by stone walls that rise 6 feet tall. Thanks to its lot of cove that stretches 700 feet from the lake, however, the area of about 4 acres is in sight from a nearby marina.
Nicknamed Tiedemann Castle after its former owners, the house highlighted by its branded stone turret is now owned by the former New York Yankees shortstop and current co-owner of Miami Marlins, Derek Jeter .
The lakeside property includes a main house, a guest house, a pool house and a hut. An infinity pool, carefully maintained gardens and a lagoon with its own stone bridge complete the park.
There are also two conference rooms, 12 bathrooms and five kitchens: four in the interior and one outside, reads an online list of Wright Bros. Real Estate Inc. Annual property taxes are around $ 70,000, the list goes on.
The records show that the property was purchased by Detroit Greenwood Lake Properties LLC 15 years ago from the Tiedemann Family Trust for $ 425,000. At the time, the house on the west shore of the lake was vacant and in a state of disrepair, having served as apartments for a while.

In 2004, an adjacent property was purchased for $ 1.2 million and added to the now renovated estate.
Jeter's grandfather, William Connors, lived on the property after being adopted by John and Julia Tiedemann, who purchased the site in 1952. The property and the castle were built by New York City physician Rudolph Gudewill , for his wife in 1903.
Jeter, a star-shortstop and probably inductee to the Hall of Fame who has spent his entire career with the Yankees, retired from baseball in 2014. He now owns the Miami Marlins, a team of which he is also the CEO. .
The former Yankees captain grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan, but was born in Pequannock at Chilton Memorial Hospital. Shortly after, Jeter was living in North Arlington.
Residents say Jeter rarely visited the Greenwood Lake home, but his parents were often present.
