For years, Silicon Valley has been trying to develop methods to live better, longer and easier, with mixed results.
Some even chose not to use real food, but to rely on products like Soylent, a nutrient-rich liquid.
But for those who seek not only to simplify their diet, but also to lose weight and curb their appetite, the ketogenic diet ("keto" for those who know) has become a cult culinary plan, even attracting the public . loves the sisters Kardashian and LeBron James.
People believe that craze for fat-based diets helps them lose weight and stay full because it triggers the same mode of metabolism (called "ketosis") triggered by starvation. It moves the body into a hot state of fat store, instead of relying on carbohydrates for energy.
But as I discovered recently, the keto diet is not easy to follow.
It is true that by being content with a low carb and fat routine, one can eat traditional foods, such as bacon, eggs, butter and a lot of creamy salad dressing. However, keto-dietetics are limited in what they can eat: not too much carrots, watch the intake of berries and forget the quinoa.
Ketolent (but not the same brand as Soylent) theoretically takes all the work of the keto diet, with a shake ready to mix. When I discovered the product, I thought it was worth it to try.
I had no idea what kind of wild ride I was going to undergo.
