As the main line of thunderstorms has now almost pulled out the southern parts of central Alabama, the serious threat to the region is over. There may be some scattered showers or thunderstorms in your area until we lose the daytime heating, but you do not have to worry about heavy storms because the atmosphere has been repaired and stable.
The Thunderstorm Severe for the counties of Autauga, Barbour, Bullock, Elmore, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Montgomery, Pike and Russell, was allowed to expire by NWS Birmingham. They also canceled the Severe Storm Watch that was in effect until midnight for Dallas, Greene, Hale, Marengo, Perry, Pickens and Sumter Counties.
All that remains is the heat notice that comes into effect at 10:00. Friday morning and expires at 20:00 on Friday night.
We have sad news to report with the storms of today … Lineville Police (Clay Co.) reports that a man was killed when a big tree fell. on his vehicle when he was driving on Martha Street because of gusts of wind.
Hueytown Police Department reports that 2 people were injured when a tree fell on their vehicle while traveling on Allison-Bonnett Memorial Drive in front of Hueytown High School Stadium
There are many more reports trees and power lines felled, with some structural damage due to destructive winds and lightning.
Alabama Power reports at 17:00, more than 156,000 people are without po wer because of the storms of today. Here is a list of the five counties most affected by power cuts

• 18,000 – Tuscaloosa County
• 17,000 – Shelby County
• 9,000 – Montgomery County
