(RNN) – Comcast is experiencing significant service issues across the country.
On Twitter, the provider of television, internet and telephony services said that two unrelated fibers were cut to its "backbone network providers". affecting residential and business customers; the company said around 5:30 pm ET that its engineers were working to restore service to all customers.
Uh, what's going on right now? Are they Russian hackers? Comcast is down and other internet service providers are also reporting a rise in outages.

The break began around 1 am AND Friday. Many on Twitter began calling the company because they could not get through the customer service line.
Some on Twitter request a credit on their account. Others tell Comcast to unplug for 30 seconds, and then plug it back in, a common solution when Internet service is off at home.
