KILDEER, Ill. – Then Yeon Ryu hates the roller coaster
They scare him.
That's why his swing coach, Cameron McCormick, wanted her to ride one.
He learned, he says, in the face of his fears.
This was perhaps the best lesson Ryu ever had.

Yes, after a terrible week spent at the US Women's Open last month, Ryu told McCormick that she was getting too nervous about the greens. So he gave him homework. He asked her what kind of things she feared, and when she confided, he told her to go for a roller coaster ride.

But Ryu did it
"I was really sick after that," she says.
A week later, Ryu won The Meijer Classic, then she told McCormick all about her roller coaster ride.
"It was like," Well, let's go to the next chapter, "said Ryu. "So, I'm really scared of what he's going to make me do next."
Ryu is attached to Kemper Lakes in the hope of climbing to a new height in his career. With a record of 67, Saturday, she took the lead.

This was as a late birthday gift. Ryu turned 28 on Friday
Ryu became one of the best ball attackers on tour, and his putting is a less nervous adventure now. She showed all her skills on the back nine. She has birdied four of the last eight holes.
"Right now, I'm pretty confident on the green," Ryu said. "I think the tournament relies entirely on trust, and that's the attitude I really want to have for tomorrow, a free but confident spirit."
