A notorious career thief who was once the most wanted man in France managed a daring jailbreak Sunday, fleeing a prison in the Paris region by helicopter, officials said.
Redoine Faid, 46, left Reau prison in the southeast suburbs of the city in minutes, aided by a number of heavily armed men, according to sources close to the case .
He fled with three accomplices, sources said. The helicopter was later found in a northeastern suburb of the French capital, they added, adding that a police search had been launched throughout the Paris region.
