A boat explodes in the Bahamas, leaving 1 dead, 9 wounded

One person died and nine others were flown to hospitals in Florida and Bahamas after the explosion of a boat on Saturday, according to the Coast Guard American and Royal Bahamas. Shanta Knowles, police superintendent of the Royal Bahamas Police Force, confirmed to NBC News that an American woman died during the explosion, but said her identity would not be disclosed until her family be notified.

Ten Americans and two Bahamians were aboard the ship when it exploded, according to officials.

Four people were flown to a Florida hospital and five others were transported to the Nassau hospital in Rovidence Island, Bahamas. said Knowles. "The investigators are still trying to figure out what went wrong," Knowles said about the blast.
