Interstellar Technologies, based in Hokkaido, was trying its second launch. On June 29, 1965, the Momo-2 Interstellar Technologies is designed to carry 100 kilograms of payload over 100 kilometers – an altitude called the Karman Line which is often considered the beginning. In a tweet of June 30, Interstellar Technologies said that it was investigating the cause of the failure and that it would provide updates when they are available.
Momo-2 is the first sounding rocket developed in Japan. and is designed to provide two to six minutes of microgravity. Interstellar Technologies attempted a first launch last year, but the rocket only reached an altitude of 20 kilometers.
Momo-2 burns ethanol and liquid oxygen as fuel and has an engine, an avionics and other internal components. . The company uses its work on Momo-2 to also develop an orbital vehicle called Zero for missions of 100 kilograms of smallsat in low Earth orbit.
