New seasons from Netflix's original films like "Orange is the New Black" to acclaimed movies like "Her", there's a lot to see in this month of July.

This is just a test, says Netflix, but that could eventually lead to higher monthly bills for subscribers.

The streaming television company, which has more than 125 million subscribers worldwide, is testing a premium 'Ultra' subscription. premium in Europe offering 4K Ultra HD video with High Dynamic Range (HDR) quality and the ability to watch four screens at the same time for 17 Euros (€ 16.99, or about $ 20). It's three euros more than the most expensive plan currently offered. Some European consumers have been offered the Ultra package at an even higher price (€ 19.99 or $ 23.39).

A potential change that could affect more subscribers – some consumers have also seen changes in current Netflix plans with the Premium Plan allowing two simultaneous screens. , down four, and the Standard plan getting a screen, down two. Netflix would not provide any details of the tests, first reported by the Italian website TuttoAndroid and CordCutting.com.

However, the company said in a statement to USA TODAY: At Netflix, these tests usually vary over time: in this case, we test slightly different price points and features to better understand how consumers appreciate Netflix, because not everyone will see this test.

In the United States, the current Netflix Premium Plan ($ 13.99) includes 4K Ultra HD video and four simultaneous displays. Netflix has many series available in 4K and several including "Luke Cage" and "Glow" in HDR. In addition to having four times more pixels than HDTVs, 4K TVs supporting HDR also offer enhanced contrast, richer colors, and increased detail. Netflix, which does not have abundant HDR content, does not currently charge HDR video

If the Ultra plan becomes reality and Netflix adopts changes in Premium and Standard plans at a low price, some US homes with many TVs and other screens might face the choice of a more expensive package and pay an extra $ 3 to $ 6 a month.

More homes receive 4K Ultra HD TVs capable of displaying HDR content – about 31% of US homes have 4K Ultra HD TVs, according to the Consumer Technology Association – some Netflix subscribers would be willing to pay more for the best video quality in the Ultra plan.

But more likely there will be many houses that want the flow on four devices,

Wall Street analysts said Netflix has room for higher prices. In the few months of 2017, Netflix recorded its strongest quarterly growth of 3 months – 8.3 million new subscribers – while increasing the cost of its most popular plan (the Standard plan with two simultaneous screens) of 1 dollar in October 2017. Netflix also increased its bonus plan by $ 2 to $ 13.99.

But not every Netflix price increase went smoothly. Two years ago, Netflix experienced a slowdown in growth by raising the Standard Package price by $ 2 for new members, while current subscribers increased by several months in 2016.

In 2011, Netflix lost 800,000 US subscribers priced for its video streaming and DVD rental plan from $ 9.99 to $ 15.98

The price experience did not seem to be out of step with Wall Street. Netflix (NFLX) shares rose 1.5 percent Monday to $ 396.45.
