Pharmacies Michigan filled twice as many naloxone orders during the second quarter of the year, according to the report of Lt. Governor Brian Calley.

Pharmacies filled 3,174 orders of naloxone (brand names: Narcan and Evzio) between April 1 and July 1, according to the report: between January and April, they received 1,462 orders

"L & Addiction epidemic continues I am pleased that Michiganders are taking preventative measures to have naloxone on hand to prepare for potential overdoses, "Calley said in a prepared statement.

"Although we have made progress, we have a long way to go, and equipping people with naloxone is a big step, together we can continue to fight this epidemic and ensure more second chances and fewer funerals.

In Michigan, 2,749 people died of overdoses between November 2016 and November 2017, according to research suggests that most of these overdoses were caused by opioids.

Since May 2017, Michigan pharmacies have filled 10,328 orders of naloxone.

Michigan law allows registered pharmacies to distribute naloxone without prescription to people with naloxone. is overdose of opioids as well as to family members and friends of people at risk of overdose.
