Observations of the Eagles Training Camp, Day 1: Good news on the health front

The Eagles started their 2018 training camp on the NovaCare complex with a new banner of Super Bowl champions proudly suspended. But they are no longer the champions of the Super Bowl Eagles. These are the 2018 Eagles, who will have to work incredibly hard to get back into the big game.

These preparations made another step on Thursday.

The first practice of the training camp was a little different this year, in that the whole team was there. In past years, QBs and recruits would report earlier, but this time, the whole group was together. It was a 10-10-10 lighter practice, so there will be no comments on who beat who on a particular game; it is too difficult to determine in these practices.

But that does not mean that there were not 10 other observations!

1. We all spent a good part of the day watching Carson Wentz, and with good reason. Wentz participated in 11-to-11 exercises for the first time, a tremendous sign in his recovery (see article) but he was not the only one.

Jason Peters (ACL), Darren Sproles (ACL) and Jordan Hicks (Achilles) also participated in 11-for-11 exercises for the first time since their respective injuries. This is a huge news that has been overshadowed by Wentz today. Getting these three back this season is going to be a big deal.

"I'm delighted to see them all rework," said head coach Doug Pederson. "Each of them will have more and more as they go, of course, encouraged and loved where they are, but at the same time we will be cautious and cautious as we go."

2. Good that we can not really take full advantage of the practice of today, we have seen who is the fastest with the first teams in attack and defense.

Michael Bennett and Haloti Ngata worked with the defensive line of the second team today.

4. Speaking of Ngata, it was a good sign to see him working for the first time in an 11-on-11 exercise as an Eagle. He did it with the second team, but the 34-year-old probably does not need a lot of time at the training camp. He did not see a ton of Ngata on day 1, but he is tall and still looks pretty strong.

5. The face of Wentz can become really red. After Wentz mentioned that he did some rehab work during his honeymoon in Greece, he was asked more about it.

"I had some workouts," Wentz said. Everyone laughed. Wentz's face changed the color of his training suit.

"In the fitness center!" Wentz added.

6. It's amazing, but it does not seem like Sproles has lost a step. He is 35 years old and just suffered a tear from the ACL, but he looks as fast and agile as when he arrived in Philadelphia in 2014. It's really remarkable. Seeing that guy does what he does at his age has to pump the rest of his teammates.

7. During a first part of the practice, Foles' deep ball for Wallace was underused. Cut it! I laugh. But it's worth noting how fast Wallace looked at the room. Wallace has always been known for his speed and as he enters his 10th season of the NFL, it looks like he's still there.

8. The Eagles finally used Isaac Seumalo as a second team center today, which they did not do in the spring, but that's not it fine. He had at least two snaps on the quarterback's head. One of them sailed on Nate Sudfeld, which is rated at 6 feet 6 inches.

Seumalo was a third-round pick a few years ago, but his career is not going in the future. It was at this time last year that the Eagles entrusted him with the starting guard post. He lost this one at the beginning of the season and now he has trouble defending himself. The Eagles love the versatility of Seumalo, but that goes only very far.

9. Signed just Wednesday, veteran catcher Kamar Aiken practiced for the first time as an Eagle. It was not a good first showing, dropping some balls, but let the guy settle down a bit before making a judgment.

Aiken is wearing the No. 81, which was vacant l & # 39; last year after the Eagles traded Jordan Matthews in the preseason. He has been a productive number for the Eagles in recent years. Before Matthews had it: Jason Avant and Terrell Owens.

10. I do not know much about the bettors, but Cameron Johnston absolutely crashed a ball today. He had to go like 70-75 yards in the air and 90 with a lot of rebounds. Silly Comment of the Day: A large group of reporters was sitting in the media tent waiting for Pederson after practice, when we heard a great song "E-A-G-L-E-S! At first, I just thought the guy had a game of pipes on him. Apparently he also had leverage.
