The TV show Doom Patrol projects Timothy Dalton as chef

Timothy Dalton joins DC Universe Doom Patrol A TV show like Dr. Niles Caulder, in other words the chef. The former James Bond actor joins a growing cast for the new DC Comics series, which already includes Brendan Fraser as Robotman, Jovian Wade as Cyborg and Alan Tudyk as the villain of Season 1, Mr. Nobody. The casting for Doom Patrol is not over yet, but Dalton joins The Chief adds a very important element.

As its name indicates, Dr. Niles Caulder is the de facto leader of the Doom patrol. A brilliant scientist, the leader brings together the group of superpowers who will eventually become known as the Doom patrol. Initially a force for good, Caulder is more than a little unstable and has been known to become a villain, fighting against his own team on the occasion. With Dalton's cast, it seems that the television adaptation will follow the same tragic path.

DC Comics announced the news of Dalton's cast as Niles Caulder. Dalton will be a regular series in the upcoming show, which will be exclusive to DC's streaming platform, DC Universe. While comic fans are aware of Niles Caulder's comic strip, Dalton's cast is accompanied by his own character description. It reads:

Dr. Caulder is a pioneer of medical science, searching the world for those who are on the verge of death and who need a miracle. Brilliant, but controversial, Dr. Caulder will stop at nothing to help those he believes to be in need, including his collection of strange heroes known as The Doom Patrol.

Earlier rumors have suggested that Doom Patrol was looking for an A-List actor to play the role of Niles Caulder. The most popular choice at the time was Kelsey Grammer. Whether Grammer is really in conflict or not is unknown, but Dalton is a rather inspired cast. Dalton's most famous role is the fifth James Bond film. However, the actor has played a number of naughty or awesome roles in his career. He should be able to embody quite well the moral dichotomy of the leader. This of course assumes that the TV series follows comics and that Caulder goes from hero to villain.

It would make sense to Doom Patrol play with morality and Caulder's place in the team. In his description of the character, Jovian Wade's Cyborg was described as the hero who brings the Doom Patrol together. The importance of Cyborg will undoubtedly create friction with the old Calfat. It would not be too difficult for this resentment to turn into a real retribution and the Leader to indulge in total control – although it's probably a multi-season plan for Doom Patrol.

Although Dalton as The Chief probably does not appear before the premieres of the series, fans will have a glimpse of the Doom Patrol before the launch of the series. Doom Patrol is a spin-off of the biggest DC Universe launch series Titans. Titans will introduce Doom Patrol in the episode five of their first season. April Bowlby, who plays Doom PatrolElasti-Woman, has been confirmed to appear on both series.
