Former Cincinnati Reds favorite Brandon Phillips wasted no time seducing fans of the Boston Red Sox during his team debut Wednesday afternoon against the Braves in Atlanta, his home town.

In the second set, Phillips moved to third on a single by Rafael Devers. Then, on Brock Holt's plan, Braves first baseman Lucas Duda could not keep Phillips face to face when he scored at home.

Later, at the top of the eighth round of Boston, Phillips slid his head home first in an RBI single by Ian Kinsler to tie the game at 7.

No. 0, Phillips, 37, made his first start to Boston after the Red Sox chose Tuesday for their active Major League lineup against Triple-A Pawtucket.

Phillips has been number four for Cincinnati, the Atlanta Braves and the Los Angeles Angels since his debut with the Reds in 2006.

Phillips hit .302 in 38 games with Pawtucket with four home runs and 19 RBIs. The Red Sox signed it at the end of June.

Phillips played 11 seasons for the Reds – winning four gold gloves and three star teams – before the team transferred him to the Braves in February 2017.

In August, Phillips recorded his 2000th career success – with his mother in Philadelphia.

The Braves traded Phillips to the Angels last August and became a free agent at the end of the 2017 season.
