President Donald Trump reacted on Wednesday to an unnamed opinion piece published in the New York Times by a senior White House official.
Trump reacted angrily to the opinion that this article was an editorial "not very interesting".
Trump made comments to reporters at a White House event with sheriffs from across the country. He added that the Times was filled with "dishonest people" and said the media would shut down after he left.

The anonymous opinion echoed a sentiment heard in excerpts from the book of veteran journalist Bob Woodward, Fear: Trump at the White House. Woodward's book included an anecdote from a confidential source claiming that former chief economic advisor Gary Cohn had stolen a letter from Trump's office that reportedly withdrew the United States from a trade deal with South Korea .
Cohn reportedly said he would not let Trump see the letter because he "must protect the country," according to the book.
Press Secretary of the White House Sarah Huckabee Sanders issued a statement on Wednesday calling the Times column a "new low" and said the newspaper should apologize.
"The individual behind this piece has chosen to deceive, rather than support, the duly elected president of the United States," read Sanders' statement. "He does not put the country first, putting himself and his ego before the will of the American people. This coward should do what is right and resign.
