A major Japanese airport flooded by a typhoon will reopen partially on Friday.
Kyodo news agency said domestic flights at Kansai International Airport will resume on Friday. According to the report, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said on Thursday that international flights will resume when the airport is ready.
The airport of western Japan is one of the busiest in Japan and a gateway for Asian tourists visiting Osaka, Kyoto and Kobe. The closure had raised concerns about impacts on tourism and the economy.
Typhoon Jebi blew Tuesday in the center of Japan's main island, killing 11 people and damaging Osaka and surrounding areas.
One of the two runways and part of the Kansai Airport terminal were flooded and the bridge connecting the airport to the mainland was damaged.
