Cranberries lead singer, Dolores O. Riordan, died of drowning as a result of alcohol intoxication, according to a survey in London.
The international star and mother of three from Kilmallock, County Limerick, was found dead in January in a hotel in London, where she was staying for a short visit on a number of recordings. .
On January 15, police found the singer immersed in a bath of water in the bathroom of the 2005 room of the Hilton Park Lane Hotel in London.
Dr. Shirley Radcliffe, Coroner, today asked Constable Natalie Smart when there was evidence of a note in the room where Ms. O. Rordan had been found. The policeman said nothing was found.
The coroner recorded a verdict of accidental death.
She stated that the death was caused by drowning and alcohol intoxication, but there was no evidence that it was anything other than an accident.
Mrs. O. Riordan's mother, Eileen, her brother and sister-in-law participated in the investigation at the Inner West London Courts Tribunal.
The investigation was opened in January but has been postponed until today pending testing after an autopsy.
Her death was greeted with tributes from around the world – from millions of fans and other artists she has worked with.
But her loss was particularly felt in her home town of Limerick, where she and her family maintain strong ties.
The investigation resumed this morning at Westminster Court on what would have been his 47th birthday.
