PHOENIX (KSAZ) – Samantha and her 10-year-old son, James, will tell you that there is no normal roadmap after receiving health news that has changed their lives.
Zintak's journey began when James was only 18 months old. He was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder and needed extreme treatment, so they turned to Phoenix Children's Hospital.
"He had to go through chemo on [the] the seventh floor of PCH and has been treated so incredibly, "said Samantha. Without them, he would not be here today. "
Fortunately, James is one of many success stories.

"We come every year until he's 21, basically controlled face to face and everything is fine," Samantha said. "He is able to do anything that any boy can do, which is amazing."
But every year more than 300 patients are diagnosed with cancer at Phoenix Children's Hospital.
That's why they are launching their "Step Up, Step In, Stop" campaign with a bus tour to raise awareness about the fight against cancer in children and funding research.
"We've really dubbed him to put the community behind us and create a great community challenge, so it's time to mobilize and help us fight the battle these kids are going through," said Tim Harrison.
Samantha and James were able to join the rest of the PCH group for some of the stops this morning, making the trip even more special. Although navigating the medical world can be confusing, Samantha encourages everyone to stop and ask for help.
"Rely on your family for support, ask your nurses and doctors questions, but be positive," she said. "I know, I know how hard it can be to become negative or start having strange thoughts in your head, but stay positive."
