Passengers on two flights to Philadelphia airport suffer from illness

(Reuters) – All passengers and crew members of two US airlines (AAL.O) Flights arriving at the Philadelphia International Airport on Thursday were subjected to a medical examination after 12 people had flu-like symptoms.

A total of 250 people were under medical screening as a precaution, and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) were notified, said airport spokeswoman Diane Gerace.

The two flights had arrived at Philadelphia airport Thursday afternoon, one from Paris and one from Munich, Gerace said.

No other flights or airport operations have been affected, added Gerace.

No one has been quarantined, said American Airlines spokeswoman Leslie Scott. She said the teams did not contact the medical staff before the landing to alert them of sick passengers on board.

The representatives of the CDC could not immediately be reached for comments by Reuters.

Reported illnesses occur one day after at least 19 people aboard an Emirates [EMIRA.UL] Flights from Dubai to New York were confirmed when the plane landed at the John F. Kennedy International Airport.

Three passengers and seven crew members of this flight were treated at a local hospital, also suffering from flu-like symptoms.

Emirates' plane, a two-story Airbus 380, was taken to a location far from the terminal for emergency officials to assess the situation, according to port authorities in New York and New Jersey.
