Alex Jones of Infowars is holding a press conference outside a Select Senate hearing in the Dirksen building where Sheryl Sandberg, director of Facebook operations and Jack Dorsey, chief executive of Twitter, testified about Influence of foreign operations on social media 2018.
Twitter has permanently banned the accounts of right-wing conspiracy theorist and radio host Alex Jones and InfoWars for violating the company's abusive behavior policies, the company said Thursday.
The ban comes weeks after Jones' accounts have been removed or suspended by other big tech companies such as Apple, Facebook and YouTube. Twitter initially refused to discipline Jones, claiming that the accounts had not violated community guidelines, but had subsequently suspended him for a period of seven days.
The accounts of Jones and Infowars have also been banned from Periscope. Jones will not be able to recreate his presence on the sites under another account.
