STUDIOS DE MARVEL and Entertainment Weekly Teamed Up Wednesday To Start Deploying Promotional Teasing for "Captain Marvel" Next Year – Hey there, Brie Larson – and this prompted fans to inspect the pieces as catnip.
Marvel will distribute them slowly, of course, but especially because the third movie "Avengers" ended on such a cliffhanger this summer, the Internet geek is hungry to know what "Captain Marvel" holds when it comes out in March, before we get the fourth "Avengers".
With that in mind, there were some interesting nuggets – including the confirmation of Carol Danvers' modern red, blue and gold costume – but one of the most striking revelations was the introduction of her filmmaking military team.
Get ready for your closeup, Starforce.
Starforce, Kree Empire's crack-fighting unit, debuted in Avengers more than a quarter century ago, but most of the time, it has remained relatively low in comics.
The first issue of the team (# 346), written by Bob Harras with the works of Steven Epting and Tom Palmer, introduced Captain Atlas, Dr. Minerva, Korath, Shatterax, Supremor and Ultimus.
For the film, we learn in Entertainment Weekly that Marvel has assembled an elite team probably led by Jude Law's warrior Kree, Mar-Vell. This is of course the creation of Stan Lee and Gene Colan, which Jim Starlin memorably killed in 1982 "The death of Captain Marvel.
Starforce adds Lee Pace as warlord Ronan the Accuser, resuming his role as "Guardians of the Galaxy" in 2014. He also resumes his role as "Guardians" as Korath the Pursuer.
In addition, Algenis Perez Soto is Att-lass, Rune Temte is Bron-Char and Gemma Chan is Minn-Erva.
They will join Carol Danvers, the military pilot who is waging a crucial battle between his human and overpowered Kree features.
